Why do we still see fire fighters use water on a car fire? This looks much better.
Because generally water is free and readily available and these blankets cost $1,500-$3,500

This doesn't look like the kind of dam that really is a killer, more like the kind that scares the chit out of unsuspecting kayakers.
The water going over isn't deep enough, but if it were half of a foot or a foot deep going over (and sometimes there are many feet deep going over), it would be an absolute death trap.

Is the used blanket safe to handle without PPE?
It depends on what has been deposited on the underside while in use. If in doubt, such as if it has been used on a chemical fire, it is better to wear protective gloves.

We just ordered these but I notice the bottom of the curtain swings in quite a bit under pressure. I'm surprised they don't have a weighted feature sewn on the bottom of them.
